STANWELL VARIO 409 BRIAR PIPE
New & Unsmoked · Sandblasted & Smooth Briar · Bent Dublin · Acrylic Mouthpiece · 9 mm Filter
The Stanwell Vario 409 Pipe combines one of Stanwell’s classic shapes with the distinctive and unusual finish that defines the Vario series. The 409 is a Bent Dublin, characterized by its gently flared bowl, curved profile and balanced proportions.
What makes the Stanwell Vario series particularly distinctive is its special combination of two different finishes on a single pipe: textured sandblasted briar and contrasting smooth, polished sections.
Rather than finishing the entire pipe in either smooth or sandblasted briar, selected areas remain smooth and polished while the surrounding briar receives the darker sandblasted treatment. The contrast between the two surfaces creates the characteristic Vario appearance and makes the transition between the smooth and textured briar an important part of the design.
The Story of Stanwell
Founded by Poul Nielsen in Denmark in the 1940s, Stanwell became closely associated with some of the most influential names in Danish pipe design, including Sixten Ivarsson.
The Vario 409 combines dark sandblasted briar with contrasting smooth, polished areas. This distinctive combination gives the pipe its characteristic Vario character while retaining the elegant profile of the classic Stanwell 409 shape.
A black acrylic mouthpiece completes the design.
The Stanwell Vario 409 Pipe is designed for use with a 9 mm filter.
Each pipe is supplied new and unsmoked.
