BARLING BENJAMIN FOSSIL 1812 BRIAR PIPE
New & Unsmoked · Sandblasted Briar · Straight Billiard · Sterling Silver · Acrylic Mouthpiece · 9 mm Filter
The Barling Benjamin Fossil 1812 Pipe is a classic straight Billiard briar pipe from the Benjamin series, presented in Barling’s distinctive Fossil sandblasted finish.
The Benjamin series is dedicated to Benjamin Barling, the founder associated with the beginnings of the Barling name in London. The traditional Billiard shape and deeply textured Fossil finish give this model a distinctly classic character.
One of the defining features of the Benjamin series is its decorative sterling silver application. The motif incorporates a watchtower and crossed swords within a laurel wreath, together with details referring to the Barling heritage and the purity of the silver.
The silver decoration creates a particularly fitting connection with Benjamin Barling’s origins as a silversmith and the early history of Barling’s silver-mounted pipes.
Barling – A British Pipe-Making Tradition Since 1812
Barling’s history began in London with silversmithing and the production of silver fittings for meerschaum pipes. Benjamin Barling came from a family with an established tradition of working with precious metals and established himself independently in London in 1812.
During the nineteenth century, the family business developed from this silverworking tradition into pipe making. Barling exhibited meerschaum pipes at the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London, and surviving period pieces provide tangible evidence of the company’s early silverwork.
The Benjamin series creates a direct connection with these origins through its name and distinctive sterling silver application.
Each Barling Benjamin Fossil 1812 is supplied new and unsmoked.
