The Rattray’s Carnyx Olive Smooth Churchwarden Pipe is named after the ancient Celtic
Carnyx – a bronze war and ritual trumpet almost two meters in length, curved like an “S” and often
ending in an open-mouthed boar’s head. Its sound was meant to intimidate in battle and to lead listeners
into a trance during ceremonies.
This pipe takes that dramatic silhouette and translates it into a bent Calabash-shaped pipe crafted from
olive wood with a natural smooth surface. The lively grain pattern of the
olive wood gives each piece its own character, combining a bold look with a comfortable feel in the hand.
If you add a few grams of your favourite tobacco to your new Carnyx pipe, inner calm is only a few puffs away.
The model is equipped with a 9 mm drilling and comes with two acrylic mouthpieces:
a shorter stem for everyday use and a long “reading” or Churchwarden-style stem with a total length of about
27 cm. This way the Carnyx can be enjoyed both at home in a relaxed setting and on the road.
